Super Update

In order to make blogging easier on myself I am going to be short and sweet on every post. That's just my style. I can usually say the same thing as someone else in half as many words. . . so here we go.

July and August were very exciting months for Martin and I! Martin turned 30 at the beginning of July, which he didn't like. Haha. I enjoyed teasing him
about how old it sounds. I got him a guitar for his birthday so he could play/sing to me every night. That didn't last too long. Haha!

We found out we are
expecting our first child at the beginning of August! Baby Berg is due April 7th!!! I'm looking forward to taking off the end of the school year off and enjoying four months at home with the baby. Oh, we are keeping the sex a surprise! Many people do not like the idea, but oh well. I can't wait to meet him or her!!!

Martin and I both started our sixth year of teaching in mid-August. This year I am teaching sixth grade. This is my fourth year with the same group of kids. I've had them for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and now 6th grade. Still not sure if I like sixth grade. I really miss the cute little kids and their enthusiasm.

September through November flew by extremely quickly, with nothing really eventful. Oh, except the Giants won the World Series! Woohoo!!!!! That was extremely exciting for us.

Ok, no more four month old updates. From now on I will only post recent stuff. December 2010 here I come . . .

It's been a looonnnngggg time!

Well, a lot has happened since early June. . . so here it goes.

Martin and I took a three week road trip starting in mid June. We loaded up the Equinox and headed northeast first, hitting up Mount Rushmore and then stopping in Minnesota (just missing the crazy tornados) to visit my family. The best part about MN was just hanging out and relaxing with my aunt, uncle, and cousins. While in MN, we also celebrated our third anniversary. We spent the day touring the new Minnesota Twins stadium and then cruised down the Mississippi River in the evening, catching a beautiful sunset.

The two weeks following our stop in MN consisted of lots of baseball, friends, and national parks. After catching a Brewers game in Milwaukee, we headed to Chicago to meet Jen and Kev. We had a blast exploring the city of Chicago, including: the Taste of Chicago, the Art Institute, a White Sox game, Navy Pier, John Hancock Tower, and the Cubs game.

From Chicago we traveled south to St. Louis. We caught a Cardinals game and then explored the St. Louis Arch. From there we headed to Kansas City to catch a Royals game. Of course we had to stop along the way to purchase a few illegal fireworks. From Kansas City we drove west, stopping in Colorado. Our final game was extra special, as we got to cheer on the Giants as they battled the Rockies.

Our final day kicked off early. We left Denver around seven in the morning, heading west. After five hours we arrived at Arches National Park in Utah. We spent four hours hiking, including the Delicate Arch and the Landscape Arch, and then hit the road again. Martin had the bright idea of driving all night to get home. I was a little weary of the idea, but was willing to try. I took the first shift, driving from Arches to Salt Lake City. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then switched seats. Mar drove from Salt Lake to Elko, NV. We arrived in Elko at 1:00a.m. and there was no way I was going to continue. We stopped at a gas station, slept uncomfortably for four hours, and then continued. I drove from Elko to Reno, watching the sunrise in the rearview mirror. The drive was extremely boring, especially when your co-pilot is dozing off. Mar completed the final stretch from Reno to home. We finally made it home around 11:00a.m. on the 4th of July! A quick nap was needed and then off to Uncle E's to celebrate with the family.

So, I will catch you up from July to the present very soon. . . I promise.

The Dondo

I am sitting in Jen and Kev's new two bedroom/two bath apartment in Redondo Beach. Mar and I kicked off our summer vacation with a trip to visit two of our best friends. Last night we celebrated Kevin's 30th birthday with a well planned surprise dinner at Restaurant Christine. Great food, wine, and friends= fun!!!

Today we have done nothing! Jen, Erik, and I grabbed some breakfast burritos to jumpstart our day. A little Wii action and a nap followed shortly after. I heart relaxing the day away and not worrying about household chores.

Tomorrow we head back to *THE Valley and back to reality. Chores and laundry then off on another journey.

*We had a discussion about the valleys of California. Yes, the Central Valley is THE Valley. What other valley could be as significant as the Central Valley?

Summer is almost here!

I just finished my report cards! Yeah!!! Now it's time to get ready for the next year. Two weeks ago I found out that I will be teaching sixth grade next year. Bummer! Of all the grades, I swore I would never teach sixth grade. Well, I don't have a choice. So now I have to switch classrooms, which means completely clearing out my current classroom and moving everything across campus.

I'm trying to think of positive things to get me excited about next year, but it's not really working. The only things I can think of are Outdoor Education and the 6th Graders vs. Teachers softball game. I'm also looking forward to teaching challenging math for once. Would it be bad if every student had a small deodorant next to their nicely sharpened pencil on the first day of school?

I'm hoping to have everything cleared out by the end of this year so I can enjoy my summer. Redondo Beach and cross-country road trip here I come!

Changes

So I decided to try out Blogspot since it's easily accessible and my friends are on here. My Apple blog can only be accessed from my iMac, so it's not always convenient (don't tell Martin because he will give me 80 different reasons why Mac is better). Change seems to be occurring frequently right now, so why not my blog? Also, I get to follow my friends from one simple page. Yea!
